Giphy Slack
- Giphy lets you search from the world's largest library of animated GIFs, making it easy to find and share them on the web. This integration will enable the /giphy slash command for your team. Example: typing '/giphy cats' will display a cat GIF in your channel.
- If you don’t already know, GIPHY is the world’s large GIF search engine, and currently serves over 1 billion GIFs everyday. And, they have built an integration with Slack that allows us to search and add GIFs in a private conversion, a channel or even in a group message.
- How to Use GIFs in Slack With Giphy. Now that you’ve install the Giphy app in Slack, there’s no need to search Reddit or Imgur searching for the perfect GIF to share anymore. With the Giphy app set up, all you need is to type in the following text command. “/Giphy TEXT DESCRIBING DESIRED GIF” For example, /giphy snake.
If you had Reduce Motion on when this Slack feature was launched, Slack will have turned it on, and animated GIFs will not play. It does not appear that altering one of these settings affects the other after the fact, though. Unfortunately, with animated images disabled, GIFs turn into static images that cannot be played manually one at a time.
